BIO
CarEva was founded by Marisol Castañón Lara, who grew up in Guanajuato, Mexico—a city where art, history, and culture are part of everyday life. Surrounded by beauty from an early age and inspired by her father, creativity was never something separate from life; it was simply part of it.
After moving to the Netherlands nearly two decades ago, Marisol found herself living between two worlds: the vibrant colour, movement, and creative energy of Mexico, and the structure and openness she found in Dutch culture. While visiting art fairs, she realized that many talented contemporary Latin American artists were missing from the conversation. Their work could stand alongside any international artist, yet it was often overlooked or viewed only through the lens of folklore or the exotic. CarEva was created to help change that.
The idea came in a dream. Marisol woke up with the name, the vision, and the purpose already clear. CarEva combines the first three letters of her daughters' names, Carmen and Eva, whose curiosity and sense of wonder continue to inspire her every day.
Because art is one of the purest expressions of our shared humanity, it should never feel exclusive. It should be discovered, lived with, and enjoyed by everyone.
